What I did
- Built and published a native iOS quiz game in Objective-C.
- Shipped as part of a broader game portfolio that reached millions of players.
Impact & results
- Held a top-10 App Store ranking for 9 consecutive weeks.
- Part of a portfolio with 7M+ total downloads.
The problem
This one wasn't client work — it was my own company. At Sarkar Raj LLC I built and published iOS games for the App Store, and Sports Logo Quiz was the flagship: a native quiz game that had to stand out in a crowded casual-games category on gameplay feel and polish.
My approach
- Native iOS development — I built the game in Objective-C on the iOS SDK, handling everything from game logic and progression to the App Store release process.
- Running it as a business — the game was part of a portfolio I built and operated over five years, leading a team of six (four developers, two market analysts) across development, marketing, and user acquisition — not just shipping code but deciding what to ship.
- Keeping the portfolio current — as the platform evolved I migrated the codebase Objective-C → Swift while maintaining backward compatibility for existing players.
Challenges
- Discovery is the game — in casual games, ranking is distribution. Staying visible meant tight iteration loops between the analysts' market data and what we built next.
Outcome
Sports Logo Quiz held a top-10 App Store ranking for 9 consecutive weeks, and the portfolio it belonged to reached 7M+ total downloads — a five-year run that ended in the portfolio's acquisition in 2018.
